The Effect of Teaching Based on Metacognitive Strategies on 5 th Grade Students’ Achievement in Science And Techonology Course

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the effect of science and technology course that was designed according to metacognitive skills to students’ achievement. In the research process, a program which was prepared in accordance with the metacognitive skills was carried out and instruction was supported with science diaries which were designed by researchers. In order to determine students’ achievement, pre-test post-test control group experimental design was used. 50 students who studied in 5- A and 5-B classes of Konya Mehmet Özdemir Primary School in 2009-2010 educational year participated in the study and pre-test and post-test were applied to them. In order to analyse the data of the research, standard deviation and t-test were used and analysis was carried out by using SPSS. According to the results of the analysis, there is a significant difference between the post-test scores of the groups in favour of the experimental group.

Fen ve Teknoloji Dersinde Üstbiliş Stratejilerine Dayalı Öğretim Uygulamasının 5. Sınıf Öğrencilerinin Erişilerine Etkisi

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, üstbiliş stratejilerine dayalı olarak tasarlanan fen ve teknoloji dersi öğretim programının öğrencilerin erişisine etkisini belirlemektir. Bu araştırmada (Araştırma sürecinde), üstbiliş stratejilerine uygun olarak hazırlanan bir program uygulanmış ve öğretim araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanan bilim günlükleri ile desteklenmiştir. Sınıfın öğrenci erişilerini ortaya koymak amacıyla öntest – sontest kontrol gruplu deneysel yöntem kullanılmıştır. Araştırmaya 2009 – 2010 Eğitim-Öğretim yılında Konya Mehmet Özdemir İlköğretim Okulu 5-A ve 5-B sınıflarında okuyan 50 öğrenci katılmıştır. Bu sınıflarda okuyan(Araştırmaya katılan) 50 öğrenciye öntest ve sontest uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada verilerin çözümlenmesi amacıyla istatistiksel teknikler olarak; standart sapma ve t testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sürecinde yapılan ölçümler sonucunda elde edilen veriler bilgisayar ortamında SPSS programı aracılığıyla analiz edilmiştir. Analiz sonucuna göre, grupların son test puanları arasında deney grubu lehine anlamlı bir fark bulunmaktadır.
