Abstract
The {+sAl} suffix was adapted into Turkish from the French {+Al} suffix in order to meet the need of Arabic {+î} nispet suffix after the Language Revolution in grammar books and this {+sAl} suffix is defined as a suffix which was wrongly separated as {+sAl} after being added to some Turkish words such as “siyasa” and “ulus”. While the {+sAl} suffix was initially added only in Turkish words, it has become to be added to the non- Turkish origin words. The Compilation Dictionary has given researchers some important results about if the “sal” suffix can be found in the accents being used in Turkey or not. As a result of the studies in this field, the use of a separated “sal” has been detected in today’s Turkey’s Turkish apart from the {+sAl} suffix. The study has basically been conducted under two headlines. At first, the word form “kumsal” was considered as a different form apart from the “sal” suffix. With the Language Revolution, the {+sAl} suffix and the “uysal” word was considered under two different subheadings. In addition, {+sAl} suffix was divided into two subheadings. The {+sAl} suffix which makes an adjective from a noun and the {+sAl} suffix which makes an adjective from a verb was discussed. At present, the {+sAl} suffix has become one of the most common used suffixes after the Language Revolution and people continue using the {+sAl} suffix consciously or unconsciously and they use it at a quite high rate in their daily lives. Due to the systematic structure of Turkey’s Turkish, there will always be a new suffix or new suffixes like {+sAl} which are suitable to be borrowed from other languages into Turkish language. The {+sAl} suffix which is used as the beginning of an item in the Turkish Dictionary and the word “sal” have been presented in a table. Besides, the previous studies which was made in these subjects were examined, so the titling is an outcome of this examination. After having examined the studies of Meninski in this field at first, the viewpoints of the current researchers have also been examined and the study was concluded.
