The Ankara International Journal of Social Sciences adheres to the highest standards of research ethics and embraces the international principles of research ethics outlined below. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their articles comply with these ethical guidelines.
- The principles of integrity, quality, and transparency must be upheld in the design, review, and conduct of research.
- The research team and participants must be fully informed about the purpose of the research, the methods, and the intended uses of the data; as well as the requirements for participation and any associated risks, if any.
- The confidentiality of the information provided by research participants and the anonymity of respondents must be ensured. The research must be designed in a way that protects the autonomy and dignity of participants.
- Research participants must participate voluntarily and must not be subjected to any coercion.
- Harm to participants must be avoided. The research must be planned in a way that does not expose participants to risk.
- Be clear and explicit regarding research independence; any conflicts of interest must be disclosed.
- In experimental studies, written informed consent must be obtained from participants who decide to take part in the research. For children, individuals under legal guardianship, or those with a diagnosed mental illness, consent must be obtained from their legal guardian. - If the study is to be conducted at any institution or organization, approval must be obtained from that institution or organization to conduct the study.
- In studies involving human subjects, the “Methods” section must state that “informed consent” was obtained from the participants and that approval was received from the ethics committee of the institution where the study was conducted.
