Responsibilities of Editor(s) and Reviewer(s)

The editors-in-chief of the Ankara International Journal of Social Sciences evaluate articles independently of the authors’ ethnic origin, gender, nationality, religious beliefs, and political philosophy. They ensure that articles submitted for publication undergo a fair, double-blind peer review process. They guarantee that all information regarding submitted articles will remain confidential until the article is published. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the content and overall quality of the publication. When necessary, they must publish an erratum or issue a correction.

The Editor-in-Chief does not permit conflicts of interest among authors, editors, and reviewers. The Editor-in-Chief has full authority over the assignment of reviewers and is responsible for making the final decision regarding articles to be published in the Journal.

Reviewers must have no conflicts of interest related to the research, the authors, and/or the research’s financial sponsors. They must reach an impartial judgment based on their evaluations. They must ensure that all information regarding submitted manuscripts is kept confidential and must report any copyright infringement or plagiarism on the part of the authors to the Editor. If a reviewer does not feel qualified to evaluate the subject matter of a manuscript or does not believe they can provide timely feedback, they must inform the Editor of this situation and request not to be included in the review process.

During the review process, the editor clearly states that the articles sent to reviewers for review are the authors’ private property and that this constitutes a privileged communication. Reviewers and members of the editorial board may not discuss the articles with others. Care must be taken to ensure that the identities of the reviewers remain confidential. In some cases, at the editor’s discretion, the comments of the relevant reviewers regarding a manuscript may be shared with other reviewers evaluating the same manuscript to ensure that all reviewers are fully informed during this process.
