Abstract

Chromosomal numerical aberrations and translocations are often the first or initiating events in childhood leukemias. The specific genetic changes in childhood leukemias are important to diagnose the disease and to monitor the response to the treatment. Furthermore, these kind of genetic alterations form an important indicator for the prognosis of the diseases. Therefore, the detection and the genetic classification of these specific genetic alterations in childhood leukemias would help clinicians for the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring the prognosis of the disease as well as applying novel therapeutic approaches.

Çocuklukçağı Lösemilerindeki Genetik Değişiklikler ve Klinik Önemi

Abstract

Kromozomal sayısal düzensizlikler ve translokasyonlar genelde çocukluk çağı lösemilerinin başlangıcındaki olaylardır, yada hastalığın oluşmasını sağlayan ilk olaylardır. Çocukluk çağı lösemilerine özgü spesifik genetik değişiklikler, hastalığın tanısı ve tedaviye yanıtın izlenmesi açısından oldukça önemlidir. Bu genetik değişiklikler aynı zamanda hastalığın prognozu açısından da önemli bir gösterge oluşturmaktadır. Böylece, bu spesifik genetik değişikliklerin tespiti ve sınıflandırılması klinisyenlere hastalığın tanısı, tedavisi, prognozunun takibi ve yeni terapötik yaklaşımların uygulanması açısından yardımcı olacaktır.
