From Bursa Faculty of Medicine to the Uludag University Faculty of Medicine: History of establishment

Abstract

Medical faculties are scientific institutions that take part in structuring and implementation of health care services and the training of the physicians accordance with the health needs of the community. Number of medical schools in our country was only 1 up to 1945, it has reached 74 today. Uludag University Faculty of Medicine, which is one of the leading medical schools in our country today and is a refer-ence point in the field of health care in South Marmara Region, was established in 1970. It constitutes the core of the Uludag University.In this article, factors that prepared the establishment of Uludag University Faculty of Medicine are evaluated according to the health policy and health care needs of that period and the establishment process is considered in chronological order.

Bursa Tıp Fakültesi'nden Uludağ Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi'ne: Kuruluş Öyküsü

Abstract

Tıp fakülteleri, sağlık hizmetlerinin yapılandırılması ve uygulanmasında, toplumun sağlık ihtiyaçlarına uygun nitelik ve nicelikte hekim yetiştirilmesinde rol alan bilimsel kurumlardır. Ülkemizde tıp fakültesi sayısı 1945 yılına kadar 1 iken günümüzde 74'e ulaşmıştır. Bugün ülkemizin önde gelen tıp fakülteleri arasında yer alan ve Güney Marmara Bölgesi'nin sağlık alanında referans noktası olan Uludağ Üniversi-tesi Tıp Fakültesi, 1970 yılında kurulmuş olup Uludağ Üniversitesinin çekirdeğini oluşturmaktadır. Makalede, Uludağ Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi'nin kuruluşunu hazırlayan etkenler dönemin sağlık politikası ve sağlık hizmeti gereksinimleri doğrultusunda değerlendirilmekte ve kuruluş süreci kronolojik olarak ele alınmaktadır.
