Primary Squamous Cell Carcinoma (With an Intracystic Component) of the Breast: Case Report and Literature Review

Abstract

Primary squamous-cell carcinoma of the breast is a quite rare tumor that is considered under the title of metaplastic carcinoma of the breast. Our case, a 44-year-old female patient, presented at the clinic complaining of a mass, pain and swelling in her right breast. The fine needle aspiration cytology was diagnosed as suspicious. Right quadrentectomy was performed in the surgery clinic. Then, organs where squamous-cell carcinoma may develop clinically were scanned, and no tumor was found in these foci. Histopathological, immunohistochemical and clinical/ radiologic signs, the patient was diagnosed with primary squamous-cell carcinoma of the breast (with an intra-cystic component). Lymph node dissection was performed in the patient as complementary surgery. No residual tumor and any sign of metastasis was found. The 44-year-old female patient who was diagnosed with a primary squamous-cell carcinoma in the right breast is reported due to its rarity and discussed with reference to literature data.

Memenin Primer Skuamöz Hücreli Karsinomu (İntrakistik Komponenti Bulunan): Olgu Sunumu Eşliğinde Literatür Bilgileriyle Tartışılması

Abstract

Memenin primer skuamöz hücreli karsinomu oldukça nadir görülen ve memenin metaplastik karsinomları başlığı altında geçen bir tümördür. Olgumuz 44 yaşında kadın hasta olup kliniğe sağ memede kitle, ağrı ve şişlik şikayetleriyle başvurdu. Yapılan ince iğne aspirasyon sitoloji-sine şüpheli tanısı verildi. Hastaya cerrahi kliniğinde sağ kadrenektomi operasyonu uygulandı. Olgumuzda klinik olarak skuamöz hücreli karsinomun gelişebileceği organlar tarandı ve bu odaklarda tümör saptanmadı. Histopatolojik, immünhistokimyasal ve klinik/radyolojik bulgular eşliğinde olguya memenin primer skuamöz hücreli karsinomu (intrakistik komponenti bulunan) tanısı verildi. Olguya tamamlayıcı cerrahi ile lenf nodu diseksiyonu uygulandı ancak rezidü tümör ve metastaza ait bir bulguya rastlanmadı. Seyrek görülmesi nedeniyle 44 yaşında sağ memede primer skuamöz hücreli karsinom tespit edilen kadın hasta literatür bilgileri ışığında tartışıldı.
