THE IMPACT OF PUBLIC WORKERS’ SAFETY CLIMATE PERCEPTION ON THEIR JOB PERFORMANCE AND JOB SATISFACTION

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of safety climate
perceptions of employees facing various types of risks in their workplaces on
job performance and job satisfaction. For this purpose; data which is gathered
through survey method that covers public workers employed (n=451) in different
public institutions and organizations in Malatya province is analysed.
According to results of the analysis (exploratory and confirmatory factor
analyses, correlation and regression analyses, Sobel test), it is figured that
a positive safety climate perception of public workers affects employees’ job
performance and job satisfaction positively and significantly. Moreover, job
satisfaction does not have a mediating role in the relationship between safety
climate and job performance in this process. The results are discussed
comparing the studies in the literature.

KAMU ÇALIŞANLARININ GÜVENLİK İKLİMİ ALGILARININ İŞ TATMİNİ VE İŞ PERFORMANSI ÜZERİNE ETKİSİ

Abstract

Yapılan bu çalışmanın amacı iş
ortamlarında çeşitli risklerle karşı karşıya bulunan işgörenlerin güvenlik
iklimi algılarının iş tatminleri ve iş performansları üzerine olan etkisini
belirlemektir. Bu maksatla Malatya ilinde istihdam edilen kamu çalışanlarından
(n=451) anket yöntemiyle toplanan veriler analiz edilmiştir. Yapılan analizler
(faktör analizi, korelasyon ve regresyon analizi, sobel testi) neticesinde kamu
çalışanlarının olumlu yöndeki güvenlik iklimi algılarının iş performanslarını
ve iş doyum seviyelerini pozitif yönlü ve anlamlı olarak etkilediği tespit
edilmiştir. Ayrıca bu süreçte, güvenlik iklimi ile iş performansı arasındaki
ilişkide iş doyumunun aracılık rolü oynamadığı belirlenmiştir.
