Comparison of Entropy Weighted Grey Relational Analysis and TOPSIS Methods in Evaluation of Financial Factors of Automotive and Logistics Companies

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine how the newly generated turnover-based rankings of the automotive and logistics companies within the scope of the study, related to Capital magazine’s ranking of Türkiye’s 500 largest companies by turnover, might change based on four financial factors—in other words, criteria—using the Technique for Preference Ranking Based on Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) and Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) methods, and to compare the rankings obtained by applying these two methods. Data on four financial factors from mentioned companies constitute the source data set for the study. In order to achieve the aforesaid purpose, financial factors other than turnover were evaluated separately for the two methods mentioned together with the turnover factor, their ranking values were found and compared, and the results obtained were used in calculating the percental similarity values. The basic findings were that the two separate TOPSIS rankings obtained for both automotive companies and logistics companies showed less deviation compared to the rankings obtained according to the GRA method from the two different newly created turnover-based rankings, that for five logistics companies, Company-1 was in the first place both in the newly created turnover-based ranking and in the TOPSIS ranking, and that for sixteen automotive companies, the same companies were in the first five places in the same order in all three rankings. Consequently, when the number of companies increased from five to sixteen, when the similarity ratio increases listed from largest to smallest, the comparison of the turnover-based ranking and the GRA ranking ranked first with a 37.5% increase. The comparison of the TOPSIS ranking and the GRA ranking ranked second with a 30% increase. The comparison of the turnover-based ranking and the TOPSIS ranking ranked third with an 11.25% increase. Otomotiv ve Lojistik Firmalarına Ait Finansal Faktörlerin Değerlendirilmesinde Entropi Ağırlıklı Gri İlişkisel Analiz ve TOPSIS Yöntemlerinin Karşılaştırılması

Abstract

Çalışmanın amacı; Capital dergisinin Türkiye’nin en büyük 500 şirketini ciro bazında sıraladığı ilgili şirket sıralamasına ilişkin olarak, çalışma kapsamında bulunan otomotiv ve lojistik şirketlerine ait yeni oluşturulan ciro bazlı sıralamaların İdeal Çözüme Benzerliğe Göre Tercih Sıralaması Tekniği (TOPSIS) ve Gri İlişkisel Analiz (GİA) yöntemleri kullanılarak dört finansal faktöre -diğer bir ifadeyle kritere- bağlı olarak nasıl değişebileceğinin belirlenmesi ve bu iki yöntemin uygulanması ile elde edilecek sıralamalarının karşılaştırılmasıdır. Anılan şirketlerin dört finansal faktöre ilişkin verileri, çalışmanın kaynak veri setini oluşturmaktadır. Bahsedilen amacı gerçekleştirmek için ciro dışındaki finansal faktörler, ciro faktörü ile birlikte anılan iki yöntem için ayrı ayrı değerlendirilmiş, sıralama değerleri bulunarak karşılaştırılmış ve elde edilen sonuçlar yüzdesel benzerlik değerlerinin hesaplanmasında kullanılmıştır. Hem otomotiv firmaları hem de lojistik firmaları için elde edilen iki ayrı TOPSIS sıralamasının yeni oluşturulan iki farklı ciro bazlı sıralamadan GİA yöntemine göre elde edilen sıralamalara kıyasla daha az sapma gösterdiği, beş lojistik firması için Firma-1’in hem yeni oluşturulan ciro bazlı sıralamada hem de TOPSIS sıralamasında ilk sırada yer aldığı ve on altı otomotiv firması için ise her üç sıralamada da ilk beş sırada aynı firmaların aynı sırayla bulunduğu temel bulgularına ulaşılmıştır. Netice itibariyle; şirket sayısının beşten on altıya yükseldiği durumda, benzerlik oran artışları büyükten küçüğe doğru sıralandığı vakit, ciro bazlı sıralama ile GİA sıralamasına ait kıyaslamanın %37,5’lik artış değeri ile ilk sırada, TOPSIS sıralaması ile GİA sıralamasına ait kıyaslamanın %30’luk artış değeri ile ikinci sırada ve ciro bazlı sıralama ile TOPSIS sıralamasına ait kıyaslamanın %11,25’lik artışla üçüncü sırada yer aldığı temel sonucuna varılmıştır.
