ULUSLARARASI KARİYER NİYETİNDE SOSYAL SERMAYE ve ÖZYETERLİK ETKİSİ

Abstract

Yeni ekonomik düzen, üniversiteden mezun olan binlerce birey için emek piyasasını oldukça rekabetçi hale getirmiştir. Ülkelerin genç işsiz sayılarının giderek artıyor olması, gençlerin üniversite eğitim döneminde farklı stratejiler geliştirmesine ve eylemlerde bulunmasına sebep olmaktadır. Genellikle kendi ülkelerinde mezuniyet sonrası iş bulma ihtimalini düşük değerlendiren öğrencilerin bir alternatif olarak uluslararası kariyer seçeneklerini değerlendireceklerini öngören araştırmacılar uluslararası kariyer niyetinin nasıl geliştiğini merak etmişlerdir. Sosyal Bilişsel Kariyer Teorisinin ve Sosyal Sermaye teorilerinin sunduğu zeminden hareket ile araştırmacılar bir devlet üniversitesinin İşletme Fakültesi lisans öğrencilerinden “uluslararası kariyer niyetlerini ve bu niyetin gelişmesine etkisi olan faktörleri değerlendirmeyi” mümkün kılan ankete katılmalarını istemişlerledir. Toplamda 497 öğrencinin cevap verdiği anketin sunduğu veriler ışığında “aile, akran, akademik ve toplumsal sosyal sermayenin” öz-yeterlik aracı değişkeni üzerinden lisans öğrencilerinin uluslararası kariyer niyetini nasıl etkilediğine dair geliştirilen hipotezler test edilmiştir. Yapılan araştırma sonucunda elde edilen temel bulgu aile, akran ve toplumsal sosyal sermayenin üniversite öğrencilerinin öz-yeterliğini geliştirdiği ve bunun üzerinden uluslararası kariyer niyeti geliştirmelerini sağladığıdır. Ancak araştırmanın çarpıcı bulgusu akademik sosyal sermayenin lisans öğrencilerinin uluslararası kariyer niyeti geliştirmesinde etkili olmadığıdır. Bu durum özellikle yasal bir zorunluluk olarak Cumhur Başkanlığı önderliğinde üniversitelerde giderek öne çıkan kariyer merkezleri için ayrıca araştırılması gereken önemli bir bulgudur.
