Spor Salonu Olan ve Olmayan Ortaöğretim Kurumlarındaki Öğrencilerin Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Dersine Yönelik Tutumlarının İncelenmesi

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, spor salonu bulunan ve bulunmayan ortaöğretim okullarında eğitim gören öğrencilerin beden eğitimi ve spor dersine yönelik tutumlarının çeşitli demografik faktörler açısından farklılık gösterip göstermediğini incelemektir. Öğrencilerin derse karşı tutumları; okulda spor salonu bulunup bulunmaması, cinsiyet, düzenli spor yapma durumu, ders başarısına yönelik öz değerlendirme, sağlık durumu, haftalık spor yapma sıklığı, ebeveynlerin eğitim düzeyi ve ailenin ekonomik durumu gibi değişkenler doğrultusunda değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırma, nicel yöntemlere dayalı olarak betimsel tarama modeli çerçevesinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmanın örneklemini, İl Milli Eğitim Müdürlükleri’ne bağlı çeşitli ortaöğretim kurumlarında öğrenim gören 185 erkek ve 208 kız olmak üzere toplam 393 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Veri toplamak amacıyla Güllü ve Güçlü (2009) tarafından geliştirilen "Ortaöğretim Öğrencileri İçin Beden Eğitimi Dersi Tutum Ölçeği" kullanılmıştır. Verilerin normal dağılım gösterip göstermediği Kolmogorov-Smirnov ve Shapiro-Wilk testleriyle belirlenmiştir. Normal dağılım ve varyans homojenliği koşulları sağlanmadığında, ikili grup karşılaştırmaları için Mann-Whitney U testi; birden fazla grup karşılaştırmaları için ise Kruskal-Wallis H testi uygulanmıştır. Anlamlı fark tespit edilen gruplar arasında ise tekrar Mann-Whitney U testi ile analiz yapılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre, spor salonu olan okullarda okuyan, erkek, düzenli fiziksel aktivite yapan, beden eğitimi ve spor dersinde kendini başarılı olarak değerlendiren, sağlık sorunu bulunmayan ve haftalık olarak daha sık spor yapan öğrencilerin beden eğitimi ve spor dersine karşı daha olumlu tutumlara sahip oldukları belirlenmiştir (p<0,05). Öte yandan, ebeveynlerin eğitim düzeyi ile ailenin gelir durumu değişkenlerine göre anlamlı bir tutum farkı saptanmamıştır (p>0,05). Sonuç olarak, elde edilen veriler doğrultusunda; okulun fiziksel donanımının yeterliliği, düzenli spor yapma alışkanlığı ve öğrencinin sağlık durumu, beden eğitimi ve spor dersine yönelik tutumlar üzerinde etkili faktörler olarak öne çıkmaktadır. Bu doğrultuda, okullardaki fiziksel imkanların artırılması, öğrencilerin sporla iç içe olmalarının desteklenmesi ve olumlu başarı algılarının geliştirilmesi eğitimsel açıdan önem taşımaktadır.

An Examination of Students’ Attitudes Toward Physical Education and Sports Lessons in Secondary Education Institutions With and Without Sports Halls

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine whether students' attitudes towards physical education classes differ based on various demographic factors in secondary schools with and without gymnasiums. Students’ attitudes towards the course were evaluated based on variables such as the presence or absence of a gymnasium at school, gender, regular participation in sports, self-evaluation of academic performance in the course, health status, weekly frequency of sports participation, parents’ educational levels, and the family’s economic status. The research was conducted within the framework of the descriptive survey model based on quantitative methods. The sample of the study consisted of a total of 393 students, including 185 boys and 208 girls, studying in various secondary schools affiliated with the Provincial Directorates of National Education. In order to collect data, the "Attitude Scale Towards Physical Education Course for Secondary School Students" developed by Güllü and Güçlü (2009) was used. Whether the data showed a normal distribution was determined by Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests. When the assumptions of normality and homogeneity of variances were not met, the Mann-Whitney U test was used for binary group comparisons, and the Kruskal-Wallis H test was applied for comparisons involving more than two groups. For significant differences found among the groups, further analysis was performed using the Mann-Whitney U test. According to the findings, students who study in schools with gymnasiums, male students, those who engage in regular physical activity, who evaluate themselves as successful in physical education classes, who have no health problems, and who do sports more frequently on a weekly basis were found to have more positive attitudes towards the physical education course (p<0.05). On the other hand, no significant difference in attitudes was found based on the parents' educational levels or the family's economic status (p>0.05). In conclusion, based on the data obtained, the adequacy of the school's physical facilities, the habit of regular sports participation, and the student’s health condition emerge as influential factors on attitudes towards physical education classes. In this context, improving physical resources in schools, encouraging students’ involvement in sports, and fostering positive perceptions of success are of educational significance.
