Investigation of Responses of Some Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) Genotypes to Different Levels of Salt Stress

Abstract

In this study, it was aimed to investigate the responses of 20 different bean genotypes to different levels of salt stress. In the study, the reactions of 20 different bean genotypes at 25 mM and 50 mM NaCI were investigated. Salt application was carried out for 4 consecutive days with irrigation water. At the end of the study, 0-5 scale, number of leaves, shoot diameter, shoot length, shoot dry and fresh weights and nutrient elements (Na, Ca and K) in the bean genotypes were determined in order to determine the tolerance to salinity. According to the results obtained at the end of the study, it was determined that there were significant differences in tolerance between the genotypes. According to the scale 0-5, it was found that there was significant developmental retardation especially in the group receiving 50 mM salt dose. In parallel with the increase of applied salt concentration, the shoot size, leaf number, shoot diameter, shoot age weight, K, K / Na and Ca / Na ratio decreased; Ca and Na content were increased.
