Abstract

Güneydoğu Anadolu Projesi Cumhuriyetin kuruluşu ile tartışılmaya başlanmış, ancak Dicle ve Fırat Nehirleri üzerinde barajların inşa edilmesi 1960’lardan sonra hız kazanmıştır. Bu barajların inşasında elektrik enerjisi elde etme ve tarımsal sulama amaçlanmıştır. 1990’lardan itibaren faaliyete geçen bu barajların enerji ve sulama gibi ekonomik faydaları yanında bazı doğal çevre etkileri olmuştur. Bu doğal etkiler siltasyon, erozyon ve heyelandır.

Karakaya Dams and effects of naturel environment

Abstract

The project of Southeastern Anatolia (GAP) has started to be discussed since the foundation of Turkish Republic, but to start building dams on Tigris and Euphrates has accelerated after 1960s. To get electricity energy and agricultural watering has been aimed with building these dams.These dams which has started to be built since the beginning of the 1990s, besides having economical benefits such as energy and watering; it has apparent effects on nature. These main effects are namely siltation, erosion and landslide.
