Atypical squamous cells cannot exclude highgrade squamous intraepithelial lesion (ASC-H) cytomorphologic features and biopsy correlation

Abstract

Objective : To determine the validity of "atypical cells cannot exclude high-grade intraepithelial lesion" which was included in 2001 Bethesda System. Materials and Methods: The results of 17 cases, which were diagnosedas "atypical squamous cells cannot exclude high grade intraepithelial lesion" and underwent colposcopic examination and biopsy from May 2002 to November 2003, were evaluated. Results: Of 17 cases, benign reactive changes were % 35, histologic CİN I and more severe lesions were 64%, histologic CİN II and more severe lesions were %52. Conclusion: We concluded that "atypical squamous cells cannot exclude high grade intraepithelial lesion" terminology has highpositive predictive value for CİN II and more severe lesions. We also agreed to the necessity of immediate colposcopic examination and biopsy.

Yüksek dereceli skuamöz intraepitelyal lezyonun ekarte edilemediği atipik skuamöz hücreler (ASC-H): Sitomorfolojik özellikleri ve biopsi korelasyonu

Abstract

Amaç: Bethesda Sistem 2001'de oluşturulan "yüksek dereceli skuamöz intraepitelyal lezyonun ekarte edilemediği atipik skuamöz hücreler " sitolojik tanımının değerini araştırmak. Materyal ve Metod: Mayıs 2002- Kasım 2003 tarihleri arasında "yüksek dereceli skuamöz intraepitelyal lezyonun ekarte edilemediği atipik skuamöz hücreler" tanısı alarak kolposkopi ve biopsi yapılan 17 olgunun sonuçları irdelendi. Bulgular 17 olgunun biopsi sonuçlarmda % 35 oranında benignreaktif değişiklikler, % 64 CIN I ve üzeri lezyonlar, % 52 oranında CİN II ve üzeri lezyonlar saptandı. Sonuçlar 'Yüksek dereceli skuamöz intraepitelyal lezyonun ekarte edilemediği atipik skuamöz hücreler" tanımının CİN II ve üzeri lezyonlar için yüksek pozitif öngörücü değere sahip olduğ sonucuna vardık. Bu gruba vakit kaybetmeden kolposkopi ve biopsi yapılması gerekliliğine katildik
