Clinico-pathologic features of 94 cases undergone conization treatment

Year 2007, Volume: 38 Issue: 1, 11 - 15, 01.02.2007

Abstract

Clinico-pathologic features of 94 cases undergone Conization Treatment Objective: To evaluate clinico-pathologic features of 94 cases undergone Conization. Materials Methods: Retrospective chart datas of 94 patients who underwent conization operation between June 2001 and August 2006 were reviewed. Charts were analyzed for the following: age, gravida, parity, smoking habit, indication for conization, histopathologic results of cervical biopsies directed by colposcopy, histopathologic results of conizations, clinical presentation and complications of conizations. Results: Mean age was 40.1 ±9.1. Conization indications were finding epithelial cell abnormalities, in particular high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (70 patients) and unsatisfactory colposcopy (8 patients) and finding Cervical Intrepithelial Neoplasia during endocervical curettage ( 5 patients) and cytologic diagnosis inconsistent with histologic diagnosis based on directed biopsy findings (2 patients) and cytologic or histologic evidence of premalignant or malignant glandular epithelium (9 patients). Two vaginal bleeding and one cervical stenosis were the complications. Conclusion: Cold conization has its own place in cervical dysplasia because of either it can be used as a diagnostic tool and a treatment modality or it can supply sufficient amount of tissue sample to diagno.se cervical cancer. To prevent and decrease mortality and morbidity of cervical carcinoma a national screening organization is needed.

Konizasyon uygulanan 94 hastanın kliniko-patolojisi

Year 2007, Volume: 38 Issue: 1, 11 - 15, 01.02.2007
