During the current COVID-19 pandemic, pharmacists play an important role in conveying accurate information to the community. In this study, it is aimed to evaluate; the knowledge and attitudes of pharmacists and pharmacy students on COVID-19 and the contribution of pharmacists’ in-service education. The questionnaire consisting of 22 multiple-choice and open-ended questions prepared for the study has been applied to pharmacists and pharmacy students who attended the 1-hour training on 'Role of Pharmacists in COVID-19' held on 9 March 2020. 90 participants, including 45 pharmacists and 45 pharmacy faculty students, have been included in this study. Participants stated that they mostly use classical media, social media, and the internet as the source of information. The number of pharmacists who think that people with comorbidities are more affected by COVID-19 is higher than students (97.8% and 58.0%, p=0.019). Students who think that COVID-19 affects children more (15.6% and 40.0%, p=0.019) and think that N95 masks should be used for protection (31.1% and 62.2%, p=0.006) are more than pharmacists. Thoughts about the need to apply protective measures have increased in many items (avoiding sick people, using surgical masks, using N95 masks, wearing gloves, wearing protective glasses, wearing protective clothing) after training. The trend towards the implementation of preventive measures increases after education. This situation shows that education is important for the adaptation of healthcare workers to preventive methods.
