Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışma, Hayvan Modellerinde Deneysel Periodontal ve Peri-İmplant Hastalıkları (EPPIDA) literatürünün kapsamlı bir bibliyometrik analizini sunmayı, güncel eğilimleri, tematik gelişmeleri ve bu alana küresel katkıları incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Odak noktası, araştırma temalarının evrimini, yayın büyümesini ve EPPIDA çalışmalarında hayvan modellerinin etkisini anlamaktır.
Yöntemler: Bu bibliyometrik analiz, Web of Science veri tabanından 1980-2024 dönemini kapsayan 925 makale üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir.

Abstract

Aims: This study aims to provide a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the literature on experimental periodontal and peri implant disease in animal models (EPPIDA), examining current trends, thematic developments, and the global contributions to this field. The focus is on understanding the evolution of research themes, publication growth, and the impact of animal models in EPPIDA studies.
Methods: This bibliometric analysis was conducted on 925 articles from the Web of Science database, covering the period from 1980 to 2024. The study utilized Bibliometrix software (version 4.3.0) to analyze the data, focusing on article performance, word analysis, collaboration network, and thematic analysis.
Results: The findings reveal a significant increase in annual publications in EPPIDA research. Brazil contributed the most with 186 publications, Berglundh T (n=1453) was the most highly cited author and the Journal of Periodontology was the most influential journal.
Conclusion: This bibliometric study provides valuable insights into the evolving landscape of EPPIDA research. The study underscores the need for continued focus on animal models to ensure the development of scientifically sound and clinically viable treatments for periodontal diseases. The findings offer guidance for future research directions and highlight key trends in the field. These insights provide a foundation for designing future experimental and translational studies, thereby facilitating the development of more effective clinical strategies for the prevention and management of periodontal and peri-implant diseases.
