This study aims to examine the relationships between digital leadership, innovative work behavior, and extrinsic motivation. The research investigates the effect of the direction dimension of digital leadership on the innovative work behaviors of academicians. Data were collected through a survey from 195 academic staff working at state and foundation universities in Turkey. The analyses revealed that the direction dimension of digital leadership has a significant and positive impact on the innovative work behaviors of academicians. Additionally, it was found that extrinsic motivation plays a partial mediating role in the relationship between digital leadership and innovative work behavior. These findings suggest that digital leaders can promote innovative work behaviors among employees and increase their motivation. The study also highlights the importance of digital leadership in fostering an innovative and sustainable organizational culture. Particularly in strategically important sectors like education, adopting digital leadership is crucial for enhancing employees' innovative behaviors and improving organizational performance. As a result, examining the impact of digital leadership on employee behaviors in various sectors and samples is recommended as an important area for future research.
