Effects of Methamphetamine on Brain Catecholamines in Mice

Öz

We have investigated the changes in the mouse brain content of norepinephrine (NE), dopamine (DA) and 5-hydroxytryptamine and the change in brain methamphetamine (MAP) concentration during
an 8-hour period af ter administration of MAP (10 mg/kg). The levels of NE and DA were slightly elevated 0.5 hr af ter administration of MAP. The level of NE showed the minimum with a value of approx. 75 % of the control at 2.0 hT. The level of 5-HT was lowest approx. 45% 2.0 hr after the administration of MAP . MAP equilibrated rapidly; the peak brain MAP concentration was 27 flg/g 0.5 hr af ter drug administration.
