Death after multiple suicide attempt: Two case reports

Öz

A suicide attempt is an initiative to end the life of an individual not resulting with death. A suicide attempt which causes death is named as suicide. Suicide can be seen in a wide range of society ranging from normal people who react to stressful living conditions to those with severe mental illnesses. Among suicide methods resulting in death, self-hanging is in the first place with a ratio of 50.9%, use of firearms is in the second place with 25.5%, jumping from high is in the third place 6% and chemical substance use is in the fourth place. In some cases, it can be seen that more than one method is used at the same time.In this study; 2 cases that committed suicide by multiple methods will be presented. In case 1; hanging, use of cutting tool and using of firearms were observed whereas jumping from high and using cutting tool were the modus operandi in case 2. In this study of multiple suicide cases; it is thought that every initiative that a suicide attempter takes promotes the next suicide attempt and each step which is aimed for reaching the goal should be a preliminary alarm for us.

Çoklu intihar sonrası ölüm: Olgu sunumu

Öz

Bireyin hayatını sonlandırmak amacıyla gerçekleştirdiği, ancak ölümle sonuçlanmayan fiile intihar girişimi denilmektedir. İntihar girişiminin ölümle sonuçlanmasına da intihar adı verilmektedir. İntihar, stres yaratan yaşam koşullarına karşı tepki veren normal kişilerden, ağır ruhsal rahatsızlıkları olan hastalara kadar geniş bir toplum kesiminde görülebilmektedir. Ölümle sonuçlanan intihar yöntemleri arasında ası %50.9 ile ilk sırada yer alırken, ikinci sırada %25,5 ile ateşli silah kullanımı, üçüncü sırada %6 ile yüksekten atlama, dördüncü sırada ise kimyevi madde kullanımı gelmektedir. Bazı durumlarda ise birden çok yöntemin aynı anda kullanıldığı görülebilmektedir.Çalışmada ise çoklu yöntemle intihar eden 2 olgu aktarılacaktır. Olgu 1’de kesici delici alet, ateşli silah kullanımı ve asının olduğu, olgu 2’de ise kesici delici aletle yaralanma ve yüksekten atlamanın bulunduğu görülmektedir. Çoklu intihar olgularının sunulduğu çalışmada; intihar girişimlerinin sonraki intiharı kolaylaştırdığı ve ulaşılmak istenen sonuçta birer basamak olan, hedefe ulaşmayı kolaylaştıran her girişimin bizler için bir ön alarm mahiyetinde olması gerektiği düşünülmüştür.
