Çalışmamız, 5 farklı elastomerik zincir grubundan oluşmuştur; Grup 1: American Orthodontics (Memory chain), Grup 2: Rocky Mountain Orthodontics (Elastomeric chain), Grup 3: 3M (Alastik chain), Grup 4: American Orthodontics (Plastik chain), Grup 5: Opal (Opalastic chain).

Aim:
In addition to the many advantages of elastomeric chains during clinical use, one of the biggest disadvantages is that the activation force decay noticeably over time. The aim of this study; evaluation of the change in mechanical force decay over time in different elastomeric chains.

Material and Method:
This study group; consists of a total of 5 different elastomeric chain groups; American Orthodontics (Memory chain), Rocky Mountain Orthodontics (Elastomeric chain), 3M (Alastik chain), American Orthodontics (Plastic chain), Opal (Opalastic chain). The samples were immersed in a container filled with artificial saliva and kept in the incubation machine at 37.1°C.After first activation, tensile strength measurements were made 5 times, at 0 hour, 4 hours, 8 hours, 24 hours and 48 hours. Comparisons between groups and changes with respect to time within groups were examined by Kruskall-Wallis H and Fridman test.

Results:
There was a significant difference between the tensile strength values measured at the 8th, 24th and 48th hours in all groups. AOM elastomeric group showed lower strength loss values compared to 3M, AO and Opal groups (p<0.05) and no statistically significant difference was found between the RMO group.

Conclusion:
In all compared elastomeric chain groups, the force decay increased over time, but there was a remarkable force decay on the first day, especially in the first 8 hours. AOM, RMO and 3M groups were the elastomeric chain groups showing the lowest force decay values, respectively.
