Elimination of bacteria from root canals is the main objective of endodontic treatments. Due to the complex anatomy of root canals, mechanical instrumentation is not sufficient to eliminate pathogen microorganisms. For this reason, endodontic irrigants and medicaments have an important place to eliminate of the amount of bacteria in the root canal system in addition to mechanical instrumentation. Because of the polymicrobial nature of endodontic infections, it may be beneficial for medicaments to be administered in combination with antibacterial drugs. It is reported that the combination of metronidazole, ciprofloxacin and minocycline, defined as triple antibiotic pat, is effective in sterilizing infected root dentin. In this article, general characteristics, antibacterial activity, application areas, tissue reactions and disadvantages of triple antibiotic paste are examined

Kök kanallarından bakterilerin elimine edilmesi endodontik tedavilerin temel amacıdır. Kök kanallarının karmaşık anatomisi nedeniyle, mekanik enstrümantasyon kanal duvarlarındaki patojen mikroorganizmaların elimine edilmesinde yeterli değildir. Bu nedenle, mekanik preparasyona ek olarak endodontik irriganlar ve medikamanlar kök kanal sistemindeki bakteri miktarının azaltılmasında, böylece iyileşmesini sağlamasında önemli yer tutmaktadır. Endodontik enfeksiyonların polimikrobiyal yapıda olması nedeniyle, uygulanacak medikamanın antibakteriyel ilaçların kombinasyonundan oluşması yararlı olabilir. Üçlü antibiyotik pat olarak tanımlanan metronidazol, siprofloksasin ve minosiklin karışımı enfekte kök dentininin sterilizasyonunda etkilidir. Bu makalede, üçlü antibiyotik karışımının genel özellikleri, antibakteriyel etkinliği, uygulama alanları, doku reaksiyonu ve dezavantajları incelenmektedir
