Zirconia Implants in Dentistry and Prosthetic Applications

Yıl 2011, Cilt: 5 Sayı: 3, 958 - 967, 01.10.2011

Öz

Titanium implants have become a gold standard for dental implant applications because of their welldocumented biocompatibility, mechanical properties and long-term high success rates. Expectations regarding aesthetics, titanium’s grayish color may be a disadvantage. Using tooth colored implant materials have enabled to achieve the natural appearance. Zirconia has been widely used in medical applications and was suggested as an alternative implant material for dental implants because of its biocompatibility, sufficient mechanical and aesthetic properties. The purpose of this literature review is to give information about dental zirconia implants and their prosthetic applications
