External Root Resorptions And Contemporary Treatment Approaches

Yıl 2010, Cilt: 4 Sayı: 3, 632 - 637, 01.10.2010

Öz

Root resorption of primary dentition is a physiological process involving resorptive activity before exfoliation, however resorption of permanent dentition is pathological. Pathological root resorption has been attributed to a wide variety of causes such as trauma, inflammation, orthodontic movement, periodontal problems, impacted teeth, neoplastic processes like cysts and tumours, systemic diseases; lesions may also be idiopathic. Root resorptions can be broadly classified as internal and external with regard to the location. The external root resorptions caused by varied etiological factors and contemporary treatment approaches were discussed in the present review
