Utilization of Apex Locators in Primary Teeth

Öz

Determining root canal length of primary teeth is significantly important to prevent injury to the germ of the permanent tooth. Radiography is a traditional and commonly used method to determine primary root canal lengths. However; because of root resorption and superimposition of permanent successors over primary root apices, determining root canal length may be difficult. Due to the shortcomings of radiography, the development of electronic root canal length measuring instruments that can locate the position of the apical constriction, has been accelerated. In the studies related using electronic apex locators in primary teeth; most of researchers report that apex locators can be considered precise and reliable for primary teeth. Nevertheless; because of few articles exist about the use of electronic apex locators in primary teeth, for the routine clinical usage of these devices further clinical studies are needed

Süt Dişi Kök Kanal Tedavisinde Apeks Bulucu Kullanımı

Öz

Süt dişlerinde kök kanal uzunluğu tespiti, daimi diş tomurcuğunun zarar görmemesi açısından büyük önem taşır. Radyografi, süt dişlerinin kök kanal uzunluklarını tespit etmek için en sık kullanılan ve geleneksel olan yöntemdir. Ancak radyografi ile kök rezorpsiyonu ve daimi dişlerin süt dişi kökleri üzerine süperpozisyonu nedeniyle kök kanal uzunluğunun tam olarak saptanması güçleşir. Radyografik yöntemin dezavantajlarından dolayı elektronik olarak apikal daralmanın konumunu lokalize edebilen cihazların gelişimi hızlanmıştır. Bu cihazların süt dişlerinde kullanımı ile ilgili çalışmalarda, araştırmacıların birçoğu elektronik apeks bulucuların süt dişlerinin kök kanal uzunluğunun saptanmasında doğru ve güvenilir bir metod olduğunu bildirmişlerdir. Ancak süt dişlerinde apeks bulucuların kullanımı ile ilgili sınırlı sayıda çalışma bulunduğundan klinikte rutin olarak kullanılabilmeleri için daha fazla sayıda araştırmaya gereksinim vardır
