Öz

Piezoelectric surgery is a new innovating surgicaltechnique used to perform safe and effectiveosteotomies using piezoelectric ultrasonic vibrations for implantology, oral surgery and maxillofacial surgery to complement traditional surgicalprocedures, and in some cases, replace traditional procedures. Because of its micrometric andselective cut, the piezoelectric device producessafe and precise osteotomies without anyosteonecrotic damage. This device works only onmineralized tissues, sparing soft tissues and theirblood supply. Specific surgical indications documented for using the Piezoelectric surgery deviceinclude dental extraction, ridge expansion, osteogenic distraction, ridge expansion, endodontic surgery, bone harvesting includingchips and blocks, maxillary sinus lift, third molarextraction, alveolar nevre decompression, cystremoval and orthognathic surgery. The results ofpiezosurgery in dentistry and medicine showpromising possibilities that are confirmed bymany clinical studies. Currently, long-term resultsfollowing piezosurgery which would allow for acritical evaluation of this new surgical method, are still lacking
