The aim of the study is to evaluate the reasons ofreplacement and the average life time of the restorations clinically and radiologically. 259 amalgamand 191 composite resin restorations were replacedin 450 patients. The decisions were made by 3 clinicians radiologically and clinically. Age & sex of thepatient, tooth number, cavity type, restoration material amalgam or composite , age of the restoration,where it was accomplished were recorded. The reasons were categorized as fracture, seconder caries,marginal overlap, loss, contact problem, pain/sensitivity and esthetics. %57.5 of the restorations wereamalgam and %42.5 were composite.
