FİNANSAL DERİNLİK, GSYH BÜYÜMESİ ÜZERİNDE ETKİLİ MİDİR? TÜRKİYE İÇİN BİR UYGULAMA

Öz

Ekonomi literatüründe ve özellikle de ekonominin bir alt disiplini olan finans literatüründe finansal piyasalar ve finansal kurumlar son derece önemli bir yere sahiptir. Bu piyasalardaki en dikkatle incelenen konulardan birisi ise finans piyasalarının derinliğidir. Finansal piyasaların derinliği ile ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişkiyi ele alan çalışmalar özellikle 1970’li yıllara dayanır. Bunun en önemli nedenlerinden birisi Bretton Woods sisteminin 1970’li yılların başında çökmesiyle birlikte uluslararası finans sisteminde yaşanan dalgalanmalardır. Elbette her ülkenin koşulları farklı olduğu için bu iki değişken arasındaki ilişkinin var olup olmadığı veya bir ilişki varsa da bu ilişkinin yönü ve derecesi farklılıklar göstermektedir. Bu çalışmada Türkiye için 2005-2024 yılları arasındaki dönem itibariyle (M2/GSYH) oranı ile temsil edilen finansal derinleşme ile GSYH arasındaki ilişki araştırılmıştır.

DOES FINANCIAL DEPTH HAVE IMPACT ON GDP GROWTH? AN APPLICATION FOR TÜRKİYE

Öz

Financial markets and financial institutions hold an extremely important place in economic literature and, in particular, in financial literature, which is a subdiscipline of economics. One of the most closely examined topics in these markets is the depth of financial markets. Studies examining the relationship between the depth of financial markets and economic growth date back to the 1970s. One of the most important reasons for this is the fluctuations in the international financial system following the collapse of the Bretton Woods system in the early 1970s. Of course, since the conditions of each country are different, the existence of a relationship between these two variables, or if there is a relationship, its direction and degree, varies. This study examines the relationship between financial deepening, represented by the (M2/GDP) ratio, and GDP for Turkey for the period 2005-2024.
