Contemporary visual art works represent a different understanding from classical and modern aesthetics and art understanding in terms of their features, qualities and power of representation. Contemporary visual artworks need descriptive texts written about them in order to be understood by the art audience. However, these texts written by the actors involved in the process of constructing the meanings of contemporary artworks create a semantic break between the artist to which the artwork belongs and the work of art. The attribution of context, interpretation and meaning to the work of art by actors other than the artist excludes the artist as a subject. This situation means the death of the artist in the context that Roland Barthes refers to as the death of the author. Thus, the aim of this study is to examine and discuss the results of the process of creating meaning, context from the artist as a subject, and the consequences between the work of art and the artist. In this direction, the approaches of Roland Barthes, Umberto Eco and Jean Baudrillard are used as the theoretical basis of the study.
