Abstract
Objective: This study investigated the impact of transcutaneous radiofrequency therapy on chronic pain among patients diagnosed with myofascial pain syndrome.

Patients and Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on data from 30 patients who sought treatment at the pain outpatient clinic of Ordu State Hospital between January and August 2021. These patients exhibited trigger points consistent with myofascial pain in the upper trapezius muscle region. The patient cohort comprised 22 females (73.3%) and 8 males (26.7%), with a mean age of 45.27±13.05 years. Baseline Visual Analogue Scale scores were recorded before the procedure, and VAS measurements were taken at the 1st, 4th, and 12th weeks post-procedure. Total analgesic use and Patient Global Impression of Change scores were also evaluated starting from the 1st week.

Results: Among patients diagnosed with myofascial pain syndrome, a significant reduction in VAS scores and TAU was observed from the 1st week, persisting through the 4th week. Analysis of PGIC scores revealed that patients reported a 77% satisfaction level in the 1st week, with a slight, albeit statistically nonsignificant, increase in satisfaction noted in the 2nd week, followed by a decline in satisfaction from the fourth week onwards.

Conclusion: Transcutaneous radiofrequency therapy demonstrates efficacy in reducing analgesic consumption and improving the quality of life by alleviating myofascial pain. This non-invasive, painless, and easily administered treatment modality holds promise for addressing various pain conditions beyond myofascial pain syndrome.

Keywords: Myofascial pain syndrome, transcutaneous radiofrequency therapy, quality of life.
