Kadercilik, İş Güvenliği Kültürü, Yönetici ve Arkadaş Desteği: İnşaat Sektöründe Çalışanların Algıları Üzerine Bir Çalışma

Öz

Bu çalışmanın amacı inşaat sektöründe çalışan bireylerin kadercilik algısını; iş sağlığı ve güvenliği (İSG) kültürü ile algılanan yönetici ve çalışma arkadaşı desteği bağlamında değerlendirerek, bu değişkenlerin kadercilik algısı üzerindeki yordayıcı etkilerini ortaya koymaktır. Bursa ve Balıkesir illerinde yürütülen çalışma, 233 katılımcıyla kesitsel ve ilişki arayıcı bir tasarımda gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bulgular, kadercilik algısının en güçlü yordayıcılarının çalışanların mesleki statüsü ve İSG kültürü olduğunu göstermektedir. Özellikle inşaat işçisi ve teknisyen-formen pozisyonlarında çalışan bireylerde kadercilik algısının, mühendis-mimar grubuna kıyasla anlamlı derecede yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur (p< 0,001). Algılanan yönetici ve çalışma arkadaşı desteği ise kadercilik üzerinde anlamlı bir etki göstermemiştir (p>0,05). Kadın katılımcıların İSG kültürü puanları daha yüksek (p< 0,05), kadercilik puanları ise daha düşük bulunmuştur (p< 0,001). Eğitim düzeyi arttıkça İSG kültürü düzeyinin arttığı, kadercilik algısının düştüğü gözlenmiştir (p< 0,001). Sonuç olarak, inşaat sektöründe güvenlik uygulamaları ele alınırken yalnızca teknik konuların değil; bireysel inanç, statü ve algıların da göz önünde bulundurulması gerektiği vurgulanmıştır. Araştırma, iş amiri konumunda çalışan teknisyen-formen grubunun eğitim ve yetkinliklerinin artırılmasını ve mavi yaka çalışanlar için iç kontrol odaklı eğitim programlarının geliştirilmesini önermektedir.

Fatalism, Occupational Safety Culture, Supervisor and Coworker Support: A Study of Construction Workforce’s Perceptions

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine and reveal the predictive effects of occupational health and safety (OHS) culture, perceived supervisor support, and perceived coworker support on the fatalism perception of construction workforce. The study has a cross-sectional and correlational research design and it was carried out with 233 participants in the provinces of Bursa and Balıkesir. The findings indicate that the strongest predictors of fatalism perception are the OHS culture and the occupational status of the workers. Specifically, construction workers and technician-foremens demonstrated significantly higher levels of fatalism compared to those in engineer-architect positions (p < 0,001). Considering the genders, female participants reported higher OHS culture scores (p < 0,05) and lower fatalism scores (p < 0,001). As the level of education increased, OHS culture scores also increased, while fatalism perceptions decreased (p < 0,001). Perceived supervisor and coworker support were not found to have a significant effect on fatalism (p > 0,05). In conclusion, the study emphasizes that safety practices in the construction sector should target not only the technical measures but also the individual beliefs, occupational status, and perceptions. Thus, the recommendations are listed as follows; improving the training and qualifications of workers in supervisory (foremen-technician) positions and developing the internal training programs based on locus of control for the blue-collar workers.
