Differential diagnosis of the oropharyngeal dysphagia because of a patient with primary cricopharyngeal dysfunction

Oropharyngeal dysphagia is a different type of dysphagia characterized by inability to transfer foods from the pharynx and hypopharynx, through the upper esophageal sphincter, into the esophageal body. Cricopharyngeal dysfunction is a rare cause of oropharyngeal dysphagia and may be caused by a central or peripheral nerve disease, muscular disease, or previous neck surgery, or it may be idiopathic. Our patient was a 35-year-old male. He was suffering from oropharyngeal dysphagia of unknown origin. We made an in-depth evaluation in the differential diagnosis of his dysphagia and ultimately found that he had primary cricopharyngeal dysfunction. His swallowing ability had demonstrated improvement since surgical myotomy.

Primer krikofaringeal disfonksiyonlu bir hasta nedeniyle orofaringeal disfajide ayırıcı tanı

Öz

Orofaringeal disfaji farklı tipte bir disfaji olup, gıdaların farikns ve hipofarinksten, üst özofageal sfinkter yoluyla özofagus gövdesine iletiminde yetersizlik ile karakterizedir. Krikofaringeal disfonksiyon, orofaringeal disfajinin nadir nedenlerinden biridir ve santral, periferik sinir, kas hastalı ğı ve önceki boyun cerrahisi kaynaklı veya idiyopatik olabilir. Hastamı z otuz beş yaşında bir erkek idi. Kaynağı bilinmeyen orofaringeal disfajiden yakınmaktaydı. Disfaji nedenine yönelik derin bir ayırıcı tanı değerlendirmesi yaptık ve sonuçta hastada primer krikofaringeal disfonksiyon olduğunu bulduk. Yutma işlevi cerrahi miyotomi sonucu düzeldi.
