Although multiculturalism is a phenomenon that has been a reality in almost every period since the beginning of the civilisation, contemporary societies have a more multicultural structure due to the increasing mass communication and transportation technologies, globalisation, world-wide migration, increased mobilisation and expanding socialisation processes. This means that more different sociological minorities coexist within the social structure. The origins of the ethnic minority from different origins and the sociological minority groups that position themselves differently within the social structure have been dis- cussed variously in different periods. For many reasons, states have periodically had different migrant adaptation policies, which immigrated to different countries or had to migrate, to the mainstream society. For example, in the period when the nation-state understanding was leading, instead of the policies aiming to adapt to the mainstream society by leaving all the differences that immigrant groups have, multicultural policies have started to be applied which preserving the disputes are brought by the immigrant groups from their origins to adapt to the mainstream society. Although multicultural policies aim to achieve social integration, increasing mass communication and transportation technologies help immigrant groups maintain their ties with their origins as ethnic minorities, and it is difficult to adapt to the mainstream society for these groups. In this context, as a sociological minority group, the adaptation of immigrants to the mainstream society becomes very complicated.
