Zihin Yetersizliği Olan Bireylere Bulaşik Makinesi Kullanma Becerisinin Öğretiminde Tablet Araciliğiyla Sunulan Video İpucu Olma Yönteminin Etkiliği

Öz

Bu araştırmanın genel amacı, hafif düzeyde zihin yetersizliğine sahip olan bireylerde bulaşık makinesi kullanma becerisinin öğretiminde video ipucu olma yönteminin etkililiğini belirlemektir. Araştırmanın bağımlı değişkeni, günlük yaşama becerilerinden olan bulaşık makinesi kullanarak bulaşıkları yıkama becerisinin öğretilmesidir. Araştırmanın bağımsız değişkeni ise, video ipucu olma yöntemiyle hazırlanan öğretim programıdır. Araştırmada tek denekli araştırma yöntemlerinden katılımcılar arası çoklu yoklama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmaya hafif düzeyde zihin yetersizliği tanısı olan yaşları 14-16 arasında değişen 2 kız ve 1 erkek öğrenci katılmıştır. Araştırma Gazimağusa ilçesinde bulunan Gazimağusa Özel Eğitim ve İş Eğitim Okulunun mutfak atölyesinde gerçekleşmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda hafif düzeyde zihin yetersizliğine sahip bireylerin video ipucu olma yöntemiyle bulaşık makinesi kullanma becerisinin kazandırmada etkili olduğu ve bu beceriyi 1, 2 ve 4 hafta sonra sergiledikleri görülmüştür. Ayrıca farklı ortamlarda ve farklı öğretmenlerle de beceriyi genelleyebildikleri gözlemlenmiştir. Araştırmanın öğretmenlerden toplanan sosyal geçerlilik bulgularına göre video ipucu yöntemini olumlu buldukları ve farklı beceri ve öğrenciler için kullanmayı düşündüklerini ifade etmişlerdir. Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bulgular benzer çalışmaların bulgularıyla tartışılmış ve ileriki çalışmalar için öneriler sunulmuştur.

Effectiveness of Video Prompting Method Delivered via Tablet PC in Teaching the Skill of Using a Dishwasher to Individuals with Intellectual Disability

Öz

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the video prompting method delivered via tablet in teaching the daily life skill of using a dishwasher to individuals with mild intellectual disabilities. The dependent variable of the study was the acquisition of the daily life skill of using a dishwasher. The independent variable was the instructional program based on video prompting delivered through a tablet. A multiple probe design across participants, one of the single-subject research methods, was employed. Participants included one male and two female students aged 14–16 years with mild intellectual disabilities. The study was conducted in the kitchen workshop of Gazimağusa Special Education and Vocational Training School in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). The results indicated that the video prompting method was effective in teaching the daily life skill of using a dishwasher to individuals with mild intellectual disabilities. Furthermore, the participants maintained the skill during follow-up observations conducted 1, 2, and 4 weeks after instruction. They were also able to generalize the skill across different settings and instructors. According to social validity findings collected from teachers, the video prompting method was viewed positively, and teachers expressed a willingness to use it for teaching other skills and with different students. The results of the study were discussed in relation to similar studies, and recommendations for future research were provided.
