In this study, the concept of crime and criminal is evaluated in the stories of Orhan Kemal. The types of crime in the studied works are classified according to the criminal law. Orhan Kemal is a socialist realistic writer. In his works, he deal with “ordinary human”. For this reason, in this study, the reasons of the ordinary human’s inclination to crime were revealed in his works. At the same time, the effects of these behaviors, which are accepted by laws, on the criminal have been identified in the stories. Crime in Orhan Kemal’s stories occur in various types with bad straits. All of the crimes in the stories are individual crimes according to the criminal law, and the reason for the occurrence of crimes is on an economic basis in most stories. Theft, fraud, injury, murder, harassment, rape are among the individual crimes in the stories. Crimes committed in stories are crimes that occur unplanned in the natural flow of life. The type of criminal in the works is often the real victims of the crime he/she committed. Contrary to the idea that the criminal is strong and cruel, Orhan Kemal's criminals are criminals who compromise the reader and commit this crime because he has to. In particular, juvenile and female criminals have often been taken place in stories as those who have suffered the most from their crime.
