Beki L. Bahar is an author who published Turkish literary works and essays thereon in various fields of literature such as poetry, stories, and theatre. In addition to these works, Bahar continued to be productive by writing research papers on the Jewish community of Ankara, Bursa, Edirne and Eskişehir. Beki Bahar, a Jewish-born, discussed the history and cultural practices of the Jewish community in Ankara in parallel with the history of Ankara. Ankara was cherished and embraced by Beki Bahar, who spent most of his life (1937-1980) there, long enough to say that this unusual city influenced his personality, even though he was not born in Ankara. In order to provide information on the history of Ankara, Beki Bahar uses records and human treasures, the witnesses of those times. The most valuable aspect of this information is that we find both the author's own experiences and the people of his immediate world in an embodiment of hers rich tales that could be the focus of a novel. Beki Bahar's memories are full of valuable details regarding the advancement of Ankara, the capital of the post-Republic. The fact that they are the product of an author’s pencil, whose identifications and expression are powerful, and who has a command of both cultures, and who struggles to tell the truth, make those essays more valuable.
