Öz
In this study was examined the book of “Reform in the Ottoman Empire 1856-1876” written by Roderic Hollett Davison in 1963, which was translated into Turkish as “Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’nda Reform, 1856-1876” in 2005. Davison analyzed the twenty-year period between 1856-1876, the reforms, the political life an structured of the period, the leaders of the reforms, the attitudes of the public and the content of the reforms. Firstly, in the study, the author’s language, perspective, and the work has been generally evaluated. And subsequently the content of the book was discussed in detail. Within the scope of Davison's subjects and thoughts, the reforms between 1856-1876 were examined and analyzed with references from the book. Finally, the book has been generally evaluated.
