Evolution of media, learning contexts and learner-agents
Öz
It is aimed to analyse the effects of revolutions in communication technologies on education; the status and roles of learner agent are essential in this study. As a qualitative research, descriptive model is adopted. The effects of revolutions in communication technologies on education are described by using four definable information traffic pattern. According to this pattern, there are four evolutionary processes: Allocution, consultation, registration and conversation. Allocution refers to a one-way information flow from a knowing agent to an incognizant one; during this process learning is an issue between an adult as a knowing agent and a young as an incognizant agent. Although consultation and registration is more functional after the electric-electronic revolution, it can be deduced that it was used before effectively: Consultation refers to a request of an incognizant agent for recorded information from a knowing agent; recorded information explains why the information flow is one-directed. But it has changed in the process “conversation”: it turns into being bidirectional flow; both parties exchange what they know and both parties are independent to request info or to enlighten someone on an issue. According to the analyses carried on this study, it can be deduced that the learner agent is getting more independent to produce and consume information in the last process of communication history.
