Healthcare Professionals' Intention to Accept The COVID-19 Vaccine and Their Fear of COVID-19: A Cross-Sectional Study

Öz

ABSTRACT Objective: The COVID-19 vaccine is among the important factors contributing to combating the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of this study is to evaluate the factors affecting the intention of healthcare professionals (HCPs) to accept the COVID-19 vaccine and its relationship with the fear of COVID-19. Material and Methods: This research is a cross-sectional study. Data were obtained by electronic survey. Three hundred forty HCPs completed the Fear of COVID-19 Scale, Participants’ Working Conditions and the COVID-19 and Influenza Vaccination Status Questionnaire, and the Intention to Accept the COVID-19 Vaccination Questionnaire. Results: Gender, profession, working in the surgical unit, having chronic illnesses, needing psychological support/psychiatric treatment affected the fear of COVID-19. It has been furthermore observed that there are numerous factors influencing the intention to accept the COVID-19 vaccine. It has taken attention that HCPs are affected from negative opinions of scientists in the media about the vaccine has taken attention. Conclusion: It is recommended that similar studies be conducted in a multicenter setting to evaluate the factors affecting the intention of HCPs to accept the vaccine after the COVID-19 pandemic.
