Türkiye'de Dermatolojik Durumlara Yönelik Kamu İlgisinin Mevsimsel Değişimleri: Google Trendler Analizi

Öz

Amaç: Bu çalışma, Google arama trendlerine dayanarak Türkiye'de yaygın dermatolojik rahatsızlıklara ilişkin kamu ilgisindeki mevsimsel değişiklikleri araştırmayı amaçlamaktadır. Yöntemler: Egzama, sedef hastalığı, pruritus, ürtiker, akne, cilt kanseri, tinea pedis, saç dökülmesi, uyuz ve melazma olmak üzere on dermatolojik rahatsızlık için haftalık arama verileri Türkçe arama terimleri kullanılarak Google Trends'ten alındı. Veriler Ocak 2022 ile Ocak 2025 arasındaki dönem için toplandı. Veriler mevsime göre kategorilere ayrıldı (ilkbahar, yaz, sonbahar, kış) ve mevsimsel farklılıklar Kruskal-Wallis testi kullanılarak istatistiksel olarak değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Tinea pedis, cilt kanseri, pruritus, melazma, saç dökülmesi, sedef hastalığı, uyuz ve ürtiker dahil olmak üzere çeşitli dermatolojik durumlar için arama eğilimlerinde önemli mevsimsel değişiklikler gözlendi (p<0,001). Pruritus (82,13±9,41), ürtiker (76,69±8,5) ve tinea pedis (81,82±7,01) aramaları yaz aylarında zirveye ulaştı. Uyuza olan ilgi sonbaharda (42,97±17,74) ve kışın (37,32±8,71) en yüksek seviyedeydi. Saç dökülmesiyle ilgili aramalar sonbaharda (84,46±9,08) zirveye ulaştı. Cilt kanseri (76,62±7,73) ve melazma (73,18±10,95) için arama hacimleri de yaz aylarında en yüksek seviyedeydi. Sedef hastalığı aramaları kışın daha düşüktü (79.29±7.22) ancak ilkbaharda (84.79±6.38) ve yazın (83.87±6.03) zirveye ulaştı. Buna karşılık, akne (p=0.132) veya egzama (p=0.467) aramalarında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı mevsimsel değişiklik bulunamadı. Sonuç: Dermatolojik durumlara yönelik kamu ilgisi mevsimsel değişikliklerle dalgalanır. Bu değişimler hastalık yaygınlığını, semptomların alevlenmesini ve kamu farkındalığını yansıtabilir. Bu tür kalıpları anlamak dermatologların ve aile hekimlerinin hasta ihtiyaçlarını tahmin etmelerine, eğitim çabalarını optimize etmelerine ve tedavi stratejilerini buna göre uyarlamalarına yardımcı olabilir. Arama eğilimleri ile gerçek hastalık insidansı arasındaki ilişkiyi araştırmak için daha fazla araştırmaya ihtiyaç vardır.

Seasonal Variations in Public Interest in Dermatological Conditions in Türkiye: Google Trends Analysis

Öz

Objective: This study aims to investigate seasonal variations in public interest regarding common dermatological conditions in Türkiye, based on Google search trends. Methods: Weekly search data for ten dermatological conditions eczema, psoriasis, pruritus, urticaria, acne, skin cancer, tinea pedis, hair loss, scabies, and melasma were retrieved from Google Trends using Turkish-language search terms. The data were collected for the period between January 2022-January 2025. Data were categorized by season (spring, summer, autumn, winter), and seasonal differences were statistically evaluated using the Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: Significant seasonal variations in search trends were observed for several dermatological conditions, including tinea pedis, skin cancer, pruritus, melasma, hair loss, psoriasis, scabies, and urticaria (p<0.001). Searches for pruritus (82.13±9.41), urticaria (76.69±8.5), and tinea pedis (81.82±7.01) peaked during the summer months. Interest in scabies was highest in autumn (42.97±17.74) and winter (37.32±8.71). Searches related to hair loss peaked in the autumn (84.46±9.08). Search volumes for skin cancer (76.62±7.73) and melasma (73.18±10.95) were also highest in summer. Psoriasis searches were lower in winter (79.29±7.22) but peaked in spring (84.79±6.38) and summer (83.87±6.03). In contrast, no statistically significant seasonal variation was found in searches for acne (p=0.132) or eczema (p=0.467). Conclusion: Public interest in dermatological conditions fluctuates with seasonal changes. These variations may reflect disease prevalence, symptom exacerbation, and public awareness. Understanding such patterns can help dermatologists and family physicians anticipate patient needs, optimize educational efforts, and tailor treatment strategies accordingly. Further research is needed to explore the correlation between search trends and actual disease incidence.
