Comparison of Neutrophil/Lymphocyte Ratio, Platelet/ Lymphocyte Ratio, Erythrocyte Distribution Width, and Mean Platelet Volume in Patients with Radiographic and Non- Radiographic Axial Spondyloarthritis

Öz

Objective: This study was planned to compare the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio NLR , platelet/lymphocyte ratio PLR , erythrocyte distribution width RDW , and mean platelet volume MPV in patients with radiographic and non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis nr-axSpA .Material and Methods: Forty radiographic axSpA patients [Ankylosing spondylitis AS ], 40 nr-axSpA patients, and 40 healthy controls were included in the study. Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index BASDAI , C-reactive protein CRP , erythrocyte sedimentation rate ESR , NLR, PLR, RDW, and MPV values were obtained from the patient records.Results: CRP, ESR, RDW, NLR, and PLR values increased as the disease severity increased. All of these parameters were significantly higher in patients with AS compared to the control group However, the differences between the patients with nr-axSpA and the control group were not statistically significant. RDW and PLR were significantly higher in patients with AS compared to the nr-axSpA patients. MPV decreased as the disease severity increased. There was a correlation between disease activity and PLR and MPV in AS patients. NLR and PLR values were positively correlated with CRP in AS patients. In nr-axSpA patients, NLR was positively correlated with CRP, and PLR was positively correlated with ESR. Conclusion: RDW and PLR can be used as simple, inexpensive and reliable potential parameters to evaluate disease severity in patients with axSpA. PLR and MPV values can be used to assess AS disease activity, while NLR and PLR can be used to assess inflammation in both AS and nr-axSpA patients.

Radyografik ve Non-Radyografik Aksiyal Spondiloartritli Hastalarda Nötrofil/Lenfosit Oranı, Platelet/Lenfosit Oranı, Eritrosit Dağılım Genişliği ve Ortalama Trombosit Hacmi Değerlerinin Karşılaştırılması

Öz

Amaç: Çalışma radyografik ve non-radyografik aksiyal spondiloartritli nr-aksSpA hastalarda nötrofil/lenfosit oranı NLR , platelet/lenfosit oranı PLR , eritrosit dağılım genişliği RDW ve ortalama trombosit hacmi MPV değerlerinin karşılaştırılması amacıyla planlanmıştır.Gereç ve Yöntemler: Kırk radyografik aksSpA [Ankilozan spondilitli AS ] hastası, 40 nr-aksSpA hastası ve 40 sağlıklı kontrol çalışmaya dahil edildi. Bath Ankilozan Spondilit Hastalık Aktivitesi İndeksi BASDAI , C-reaktif protein CRP , eritrosit sedimentasyon hızı ESH , NLR, PLR, RDW ve MPV değerleri hasta kayıtlarından elde edildi.Bulgular: CRP, ESH, RDW, NLR ve PLR değerleri hastalık şiddeti arttıkça arttı. Bu parametrelerin hepsi AS’li hastalarda kontrol grubuna göre anlamlı olarak yüksekti, ancak nr-aksSpA’lı hastalarla kontrol grubu arasındaki farklar istatistiksel olarak anlamlı değildi. RDW ve PLR değerleri AS’li hastalarda nr-aksSpA hastalarına göre anlamlı olarak daha yüksekti. MPV hastalık şiddeti arttıkça azaldı. AS’li hastalarda hastalık aktivitesiyle PLR ve MPV değerleri arasında korelasyon vardı. AS’li hastalarda NLR ve PLR değerleri CRP ile pozitif korelasyon gösterdi. Nr-aksSpA hastalarında NLR CRP ile, PLR ESH ile pozitif korelasyon gösterdi.Sonuç: RDW ve PLR aksSpA’lı hastalarda hastalık şiddetini değerlendirmek için basit, ucuz ve güvenilir potansiyel birer parametre olarak kullanılabilir. PLR ve MPV değerleri AS hastalık aktivitesinin değerlendirilmesinde, NLR ve PLR ise hem AS hem de nr-aksSpA hastalarında inflamasyonun değerlendirilmesinde kullanılabilir
