Mandibular Asimetri ve Radyografik Teşhis Yöntemleri

Öz

İnsanların yüz yapıları, sosyal ilişkilerde önemli bir rol oynamaktadır. Simetrik bir yüz görünümü, insan çekiciliğini belirlemede önemli bir faktördür ancak aslında mükemmel bir simetri mevcut değildir. Mandibular asimetri yüzün alt üçte birinde asimetri olarak tanımlanır ve yüz görünümü üzerine doğrudan etkisi nedeniyle önemlidir. Mandibular asimetri morfolojik veya fonksiyonel bozukluklardan kaynaklanabilir. Asimetri, panoramik radyografi, lateral sefalometrik radyografi, posterioanterior radyografi ve submentovertex radyografi ya da bilgisayarlı tomografi, konik ışınlı bilgisayarlı tomografi ve manyetik rezonans görüntüleme kullanılarak tespit edilebilir. Bu derleme, mandibular asimetri, radyografik tanı yöntemleri ve mandibular asimetri tespitinde kullanılan yöntemler hakkında bilgi vermeyi amaçlamaktadır

Öz

The facial structure plays an important role in regard to social relationships in humans. A symmetric facial appearance is a major factor in determining human attractiveness; however, perfect symmetry does not exist in fact. Mandibular asymmetry is defined as asymmetry in the lower third of the face and is important due to its direct effect on facial appearance. Mandibular asymmetry may originate from morphological or functional disorders. Asymmetry can be detected using panoramic radiography, lateral cephalometric radiography, posterioanterior radiography and submentovertex radiography or by computed tomography, cone-beam computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. This review aims to provide information about the definition of mandibular asymmetry, radiographic diagnostic methods and the methods used for mandibular asymmetry determination
