Objective: It is thought that unnecessary and excessive internet use may cause health problems such as obesity. The aim of this study was to evaluate the internet usage habits, and its effects on body composition in medical students.Material and Methods: The study comprised 115 medical students. The mean age was 20±1.3 years, and 65.2% n=75 of the participants were female. The subjects were given a questionnaire with ten questions evaluating internet usage habits, followed by a second questionnaire with 21 questions evaluating nutritional habits. We used the Young Internet Addiction Scale Short Form YIASSF to assess internet addiction. Anthropometric measurements of all participants were performed. Results: No correlations were detected between YIASSF score and anthropometric measurements in females p>0.05 . There was a statistically significant correlation between the YIASSF score and hip circumference in males p=0.005, r=0.437 . There was a significant correlation between the duration of internet usage and neck circumference in males as well as females. Problematic internet users and non-problematic internet users were compared in terms of anthropometric measurements. While there was no difference between females, hip circumference was higher in male problematic internet users than male non-problematic internet users 112 vs. 106 cm, p = 0.049 .Conclusion: Although no direct correlation was found between obesity and problematic internet usage, the increase in certain anthropometric measurements may be a warning for increased metabolic risk
