Semsi Belli
(1950-2000) is one of the best poets of the recent Turkish poetry. Seeing the poetry as evaluation
and interpretation of the concepts produced by people with a superhuman effort;
he adopts a poetic conception that is close to the Five Poet Of The Syllable /
Bes Hececiler and Odd Movement / Garip Akımı (also named as The First
Reformists / 1. Yeniciler) with the poems he wrote with syllabic meter and the
free form without rhyme. The poet, who benefited from the elements of folklore
in his poems, also reflects the people's sense, thinking and living style to
his poems. With his poem Anayasso, which he
wrote with the local accent, he made it possible to build a bridge over the
water of Zap. He also wrote poems on the subjects of poverty, degeneration,
women and love; representing the philosophy of ‘simplicity is beautiful’ and
about 11 of these poems were later composed.
