In this study, it has been examined whether there is a relationship between cognitive flexibility and self-regulation skills of university students. The cognitive flexibility scale and the self-regulation scale were used in this study by using the correlational survey method. The research was carried out on 289 senior students studying at two randomly selected faculties (Engineering Faculty and Economics and Administrative Sciences Faculty) of Afyon Kocatepe University. In the study, it has been determined that the students' cognitive flexibility and self-regulation scores are high. Only statistically significant difference of opinion was determined in the age variable, which is one of the independent variables of the study. It has been found out that there is no significant and high relationship between the students' academical scores and their cognitive flexibility averages. On the other hand, it has been determined that there is a significant and positive relationship between cognitive flexibility and self-regulation, and opinions about the cognitive flexibility scale have explained 31% of the variance of views on self-regulation skills. Considering the effect of cognitive flexibility on learning, it is recommended to conduct a diagnostic study on cognitive flexibility before or during the learning-teaching process. According to this research finding, an intervention that will support cognitive flexibility may also yield beneficial results in terms of self-regulation.
