Manisa İl ve İlçelerinde Yetiştirilen Susam Çeşitlerinin Dağılımı ve Mevcut Durumunun Araştırılması

İnsan beslenmesinde bitkisel yağların önemi büyüktür. Bitkisel yağ üretiminde ayçiçeği, soya, kolza, pamuktan sonra susam (Sesamum indicum L.), dünyada ve ülkemizde geniş kullanım alanına sahip bir endüstri bitkisidir. Susam, ülkemizde daha çok tahin, tahin helvası imalinde ve unlu mamüller yapımında kullanılmaktadır.  Ülkemizde ana ürün olarak üretilen susam, hububattan sonra ikinci ürün olarak da üretilebilir. Ege Bölgesi 128157 dekarlık hasat alanıyla Türkiye toplam susam üretiminin %43,2’sini karşılamaktadır. 2014 yılında Ege Bölgesi illeri arasında en fazla susam üretimine sahip il 2443 tonluk üretimiyle Manisa’dır (Anonim, 2014).

Bu çalışmanın amacını, Manisa bölgesinde ana ve ikici ürün susam tarımında mevcut durum ve sorunların araştırılması oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma, Manisa ilinde en fazla üretimin yapıldığı Köprübaşı, Kula, Salihli, Demirci, Gördes ve Selendi ilçelerinde yürütülmüştür. Çalışmada çok kademeli örnekleme yöntemi” kullanılarak 90 üreticiden anket yoluyla veriler toplanmıştır. Elde edilen verilere göre, ülke genelinde olduğu gibi, Manisa ilinde de susam tarımında yerel çeşitler kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, susam tarımında, hasat-harman en önemli sorun olarak saptanmıştır. Sertifikalı tohumluk kullanımının hemen hemen yok denecek kadar az olması, uygun olmayan toprak hazırlığı, uygun olmayan ekim teknikleri, ürün fiyatının yetersizliği, pazarlama sorunları üretim ve verim artışını sınırlayan başta gelen önemli faktörler olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bunları, yabancı ot kontrolü, hastalık etmenleri ve zararlılar izlemiştir.

Vegetable oils are one of the important components of human diets. The production of vegetable oils, sunflower, soybeans, rapeseed, cotton and sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) are important industrial crops with large growing areas in the world and in Turkey. Sesame, in general is consumed as tahini, halvah, and also in the bakery products in Turkey. Sesame is grown as main crops and also the second crops after wheat and barley in Turkey. Aegean Region is the most important sesame production area with 12816 ha production area, which corresponds to 43,2 % of the total harvested area of Turkey. In 2014, Manisa is the leading province with 2443 tons sesame production in the Aegean Region (Anonymous, 2014).

The purpose of this study is to investigate current status and problems of sesame cultivation in Manisa province. Research was carried out in Koprubasi, Kula, Salihli, Demirci, Gordes, and Selendi districts of Manisa province. Multi-stage Sampling Method was used in the study and data collected through a survey of 90 sesame growers. According to the data, as well as across the country, local varieties or landraces are used in the sesame production in Manisa. In this research, harvesting and threshing were found to be the most important problems in sesame production. Lack of certified seed use, unsuitable soil preparation and planting techniques, low sesame price, and marketing problems are the most important factors which limits the production and farmers income. These problems were followed by weed control, diseases, and pests.
