A Case Report on Idiopathic Neuroretinitis

Öz

Neuroretinitis presents with one-sided painless loss of vision that starts slowly and becomes worse after about one week. Usually it is characterized by unilateral loss of vision, optic disc edema, and exudative maculopathy. Vision generally returns to normal within 6–12 months. Of the cases, 25% are idiopathic while 60% are caused by cat-scratch disease. A 35-year-old male applied to the ophthalmology polyclinic with the complaint of blurred vision in the right eye. Visual acuity was 5/10 in the right eye and 10/10 in the left. Intraocular pressure was 22 mmHg in the right eye and 20 mmHg in the left. In the examination of the posterior segment, the optic disc borders were blurred in the right eye and there were macular star formation and spindle-shaped retinal hemorrhages that intensified in the peripapillary region. Due to the male patient who had painless vision loss and was diagnosed with idiopathic neuroretinitis, we attempted in this case report to emphasize the importance of the differential diagnosis in neuroretinitis
