Publication Policies of ANATOLIAN BRYOLOGY

This guide should be carefully examined by all researchers who will submit studies to the Journal. The resources used while preparing these policies are stated at the end of the guide.

OPEN ACCESS POLICY
Anatolian Bryol. As a journal that is aware that information must be easily accessible in order to advance scientific studies, it supports the initiative of open access to peer-reviewed journal literature included in the Budapest Open Access Declaration and offers all published articles free of charge in an environment where everyone can read and download. In this declaration, open access means "scientific literature can be accessed, read, saved, copied, printed, scanned, linked to the full text, indexed, transferred as data to software and used for all legal purposes through the Internet, without financial, legal and technical barriers." was used in the sense of. Considering the role of knowledge sharing in the advancement of science, open access is of great importance to researchers and readers. For this reason, articles in this journal can be used as long as the author and original source are cited. No permission from authors or publishers is required. Articles in this magazine can be accessed across search engines, websites, blogs and other digital platforms.

Creative Commons
A Creative Commons license is a type of public copyright license that allows a copyrighted work or work to be distributed free of charge. When an author wants to give the right to share or make changes to the work he created, he uses the CC license.
Anatolian approves the "Creative Commons Attribution License (Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0))" license for all articles published in Bryology.
This license allows other authors to use your work in their own works, as long as they credit your work for non-commercial purposes. Open access is an approach that reinforces interdisciplinary development and encourages collaboration between different disciplines. Therefore, the JOURNAL contributes to its field by offering greater access to its articles and a more transparent review process.

ETHICS POLICY
It is aimed that all stakeholders (author, editor, referee, publisher and reader) who produce a scientific study contribute to the correct progress of science. Compliance with scientific ethical principles is important in scientific studies prepared in accordance with this goal.

These ethical principles have been accepted by us based on the directive prepared by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) and are presented below in part, with recommendations for their adoption by stakeholders.

Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
To ensure the accuracy of the data related to the study, to keep the records related to the research in order and to provide access to these data upon possible request.
To ensure that the article submitted has not been published or accepted elsewhere.

If the content presented matches the published or presented content, to accept this conflict and quote it, to present a copy to the editor, if necessary, if there is any work that may have similar content related to its work, to obtain permission to reproduce or use any content from other sources, to cite it.

To ensure that all studies involving human or animal subjects comply with national and international laws and guidelines (e.g., WMA Declaration of Helsinki, NIH Policy on the Use of Laboratory Animals, EU Directive on the Use of Animals), confirm that necessary approvals have been obtained, and respect subject privacy. To indicate the relevant ethics committee approvals and research details regarding the study in the "Materials and Methods" section of the study.

In case of any conflict of interest, when an ethical violation is detected regarding the article, to share it with the editor and publisher, to publish an error statement, addendum, compensation notice or to withdraw the study when deemed necessary.

Ethical Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

To act in a balanced, objective and fair manner while performing their duties, without discrimination based on gender, religious or political beliefs, or the ethnic or geographical origins of the authors. Evaluating the works sent to the journal according to their content, not showing any privilege to any author. To take necessary precautions to prevent possible conflicts of interest and to evaluate existing statements, if any. To treat sponsored studies or studies on special topics in the same way as other studies. In case of a complaint of ethical violation, to implement the necessary procedures by adhering to the journal's policies and procedures. To give the authors an opportunity to respond to the complaint, and not to avoid applying the necessary sanctions, regardless of who owns the work. To reject the submitted work if it does not comply with the purpose and scope of the journal.

Ethical Responsibilities of Referees
To contribute to the editor's decision-making process by reviewing the article objectively in a timely manner and agreeing to evaluate only studies related to the field of expertise.

To make the evaluation objectively only in relation to the content of the study. To evaluate work without considering religious, political and economic interests.

To provide guidance that will help improve the quality of the article to be published and to examine the work meticulously. To convey your comments to the author in a constructive and courteous manner.
To protect the confidentiality of the information provided by the editor and the author, to destroy the study after the evaluation process in accordance with the confidentiality principle, to notify the editor if there is a situation against blind refereeing and not to evaluate the study.

To be aware of potential conflicts of interest (financial, institutional, collaborative, or other relationships between the author and the author) and to alert the editor to withdraw assistance for this manuscript if necessary.

Ethical Responsibilities of the Publisher
The publisher, one of the stakeholders involved in a scientific study, must also act within the scope of all these ethical principles.
The publisher is obliged to use the communication power it has without considering any individual interests and to direct its target audience correctly.
It protects the ownership and copyright of every work published within it and undertakes the task of archiving every published product.
People should not hesitate to contact the publisher when they encounter an unethical situation.

Some of the actions considered to be against scientific research and publication ethics:
• Plagiarism: Presenting the original ideas, methods, data or works of others as one's own work, in whole or in part, without citing them in accordance with scientific rules.
• Fraud: Using non-existent or falsified data in scientific research.
• Distortion: Falsifying research records or data obtained, presenting devices or materials that were not used in the research as if they were used, falsifying or shaping the research results in line with the interests of the people and organizations receiving support,
• Re-publication: Presenting duplicate publications as separate publications in academic appointments and promotions,
• Slicing: Dividing the results of a research into pieces in a way that violates the integrity of the research and publishing them in more than one issue, and presenting these publications as separate publications in academic appointments and promotions,
• Unfair authorship: Including people who have no active contribution among the authors or not including people who have, changing the author order in an unjustified and inappropriate way, removing the names of those who have active contributions from the work in subsequent editions, using their influence to include their names among the authors even though they do not have an active contribution,
• Not mentioning the supporting persons, institutions or organizations and their contributions in publications made as a result of research conducted with support,
• Using theses or studies that have not yet been presented or defended and accepted as a source without the permission of the owner,
• Not complying with ethical rules in research conducted on humans and animals, not respecting patient rights in their publications, harming animal health and ecological balance, not obtaining the necessary permissions,
• Using resources, spaces, facilities and devices provided or allocated for scientific research for purposes other than intended,
• Making false or misleading statements regarding scientific research and publications in academic appointments and promotions,

PLAGIARISM POLICY
Plagiarism is a violation of ethics, regardless of whether it is intentional or not. Comparing studies with other sources without reference and publishing them in this state is not only unethical, but also a crime and unacceptable.
The Editorial Board can act in accordance with COPE rules in the face of allegations and suspicions of plagiarism, citation manipulation and data forgery regarding the studies submitted to the journal.

COPYRIGHT TRANSFER

The studies sent to our Journal for publication must be original works that have not been previously published or sent anywhere for publication. When submitting their work, individuals are obliged to declare that the work has not been published, in whole or in part, on any other platform before and that they have not been evaluated for publication. In case of a contrary situation, the author will be held responsible in accordance with the relevant sanctions.
Authors must agree to waive the copyright of their work and transfer the copyright of their work to the INSTITUTION upon submission for evaluation. This transfer becomes binding upon acceptance of the article for publication. No part of the printed material may be used elsewhere without the written permission of the publishing house.
The journal's publication processes are in accordance with the International Board of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), the Council of Science Editors (CSE), the Board of Publication Ethics (COPE), the European Association of Science Editors (EASE) and the National Information Standards organization (NISO). carried out in accordance with the guidelines.


Authors; All unregistered rights other than patent, copyright, the right to reproduce the work for one's own purposes, provided that the author does not sell it, the right to use all or part of the work in the author's own books and other academic studies, provided that the source is cited, the right to use the work on personal websites or sites, provided that the work's citation is indicated. Rights such as the right to keep it in the open archive of the university are reserved.
Authors must obtain permission from the copyright holder when using previously published content, including supporting images, tables, or any other content in print or electronic format. Legal, financial and criminal liability in this regard belongs to the authors.
Authors who will submit work to our journal must fill out the "Copyright Assignment and Assignment Form". The author(s) must sign the completed form with a wet signature. The signed form must first be scanned and sent to the Journal by e-mail during the first application, and then by mail.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST
Situations that provide economic or personal benefit create a conflict of interest. Reliability of the scientific process and published articles; It is directly related to objectively handling conflicts of interest during the planning, implementation, writing, evaluation, editing and publication of scientific work.

Financial relationships are the most easily identified conflicts of interest and are bound to undermine the credibility of the journal, the authors, and the science. These conflicts may be caused by individual relationships, academic competition or intellectual approaches. Authors may restrict access to all data of the study or have restrictions on analyzing, interpreting data, preparing articles, publishing, etc. To the extent possible, the company should avoid entering into arrangements with sponsors, both for-profit and non-profit, that interfere with its capabilities.

In order to prevent conflicts of interest, editors should also avoid bringing together people who may have any relationship during the evaluation of studies.

Editors who make the final decisions about articles should not have personal, professional or financial ties to any of the subjects they will decide on. Individuals must inform the editorial board about possible conflicts of interest so that the articles can be evaluated within the framework of ethical principles and an independent process can be carried out.

Taking all these situations into consideration, our editorial board works devotedly to ensure that the evaluation process is carried out impartially.

We present below information that we think will be helpful, based on frequently asked questions.

QUESTION: Is ethics committee permission required for all articles?
No. The criteria also state that articles "require Ethics Committee Permission".

Research requiring Ethics Committee permission is as follows.
Ø All kinds of research carried out with qualitative or quantitative approaches that require collecting data from participants using survey, interview, focus group study, observation, experiment and interview techniques.
Ø Use of humans and animals (including materials/data) for experimental or other scientific purposes,
Ø Clinical studies conducted on humans,
Ø Research conducted on animals,
Ø Retrospective studies in accordance with the personal data protection law,

Moreover;
Ø Indicating that an "informed consent form" was obtained in case reports,
Ø Obtaining and specifying permission from the owners for the use of scales, surveys and photographs belonging to others,
Ø Indicating that copyright regulations are complied with for the ideas and artistic works used
QUESTION: Should a retrospective Ethics Committee Permission be obtained for studies completed in previous years and publications produced from the thesis?
Retrospective ethics committee permission is not required for articles that used research data before 2020, were produced from master's/doctoral studies (must be stated in the article), applied for publication to the journal in the previous year, and were accepted but not yet published.

QUESTION: Are these rules of TR Index restricting publications made outside universities?
No. Researchers who are not university members can also apply to Ethics Committees in their region.


MOREOVER:
• Journals must state that they comply with the rules regarding "Publication Ethics", "Research Ethics" and "Obtaining a Legal/Special Permission Certificate" by referring to international standards and opening a separate title for each, both on the web page and in the printed journal.
• Compliance with publication ethics in journals should not be left solely to the responsibility of the authors; the path to be followed regarding journal publication ethics should be clearly defined.
• In articles to be published in journals, it should be stated in the article whether ethics committee permission and/or legal/special permission is required. If it is necessary to obtain these permissions, it should be clearly stated from which institution, on what date and with which decision or issue number the permission was obtained.
• If the study requires the use of human and animal subjects, it must be declared that the study was carried out in accordance with international declarations, guidelines, etc.

It is important to complete the work on the mentioned issues within this year and to eliminate any deficiencies as soon as possible.
