Examination of the Relationship Between Self-Efficacy and Job Search Anxiety: A Study on Young Adults

Öz

The aim of this study is to examine whether levels of self-efficacy and job search anxiety significantly differ based on the employment status of young adults and to identify the relationship between these two variables. The study was designed with descriptive survey model from quantitative research methods. The sample consists of 231 participants aged 20 to 40 and includes university students, active job seekers, and employed individuals currently seeking a career change. To assess the validity and reliability of the scales, exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were conducted in the data analysis. Furthermore, the effect of self-efficacy on job search anxiety was examined using structural equation modeling (SEM), and model fit indices were found to be fall within acceptable ranges. Correlation analysis, one-way ANOVA, and post-hoc tests were run to test the hypotheses. The findings indicated that self-efficacy significantly and negatively predicted job search anxiety (β= −0.36, p< .001, R²= 0.129, power= 88%). Furthermore, job seekers had lower levels of self-efficacy and higher levels of job search anxiety compared to the other groups. Consequently, these results highlight the importance of psychological resources during the job search process.

Öz Yeterlilik ve İş Bulma Kaygısı İlişkilerinin İncelenmesi: Genç Yetişkin Bireyler Üzerine Bir Araştırma

Öz

Bu çalışmanın amacı, genç yetişkin bireylerin statülerine göre öz yeterlilik ve iş bulma kaygısı düzeylerinin farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığını incelemek ve bu iki değişken arasındaki ilişkiyi tespit etmektir. Araştırma, nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden betimsel tarama modeli çerçevesinde tasarlanmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini, 20–40 yaş aralığında bulunan üniversite öğrencileri, iş arayan bireyler ve çalışmakta olup iş değişikliği yapmayı düşünen toplam 231 katılımcı oluşturmaktadır. Verilerin analizinde ölçeklerin geçerlik ve güvenirliğini değerlendirmek amacıyla açımlayıcı (AFA) ve doğrulayıcı (DFA) faktör analizleri yapılmıştır. Ayrıca öz yeterliliğin iş bulma kaygısı üzerindeki etkisi yapısal eşitlik modellemesi (YEM) ile değerlendirilmiş ve model uyum indeksleri kabul edilebilir düzeyde bulunmuştur. Hipotezlerin testinde korelasyon, One-Way ANOVA ve Post-Hoc testleri kullanılmıştır. Bulgular, öz yeterliliğin iş bulma kaygısını negatif yönde anlamlı biçimde yordadığını (β= −0,36; p< ,001; R²= 0,129; güç= %88) iş arayan bireylerin diğer gruplara kıyasla daha düşük öz yeterlilik ve daha yüksek iş bulma kaygısı düzeylerine sahip olduğunu göstermektedir. Sonuçlar, iş bulma sürecinde psikolojik kaynakların önemine işaret etmektedir.
