Lateral and distal transfer of the greater trochanter

Abstract

Lateral and distal transfer of the greater trochanter was performed in 25 patients with hip deformities secondary to congenital dislocation of the hip, congenital coxa vara and Legg- Calve- Perthes disease between the years of 1982-1992, at the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Istanbul Medical Faculty, University of Istanbul. 10 patients with recent and adequate follow-up were included in our study. In these patients the average follow-up was 60.5 (24-132) months and mean age was 19.6 (13-23) years. Evaluation of the long term results of lateral and distal transfer of greater trochanter has shown that this procedure relieves pain and increases abduction range but does not prevent osteoarthritis of the hip joint.

Trokanterin distal ve laterale nakli

Öz

İstanbul Üniversitesi İstanbul Tıp Fakültesi Ortopedi ve Travmatoloji Anabilim Dalı'nda 1982-1992 yılları arasında doğuştan kalça çıkığı, konjenital koksa vara, Perthes hastalıklarına bağlı, gelişen deformite nedeniyle 25 hastaya trokanterin distal ve laterale nakli ameliyatı yapıldı. Bu hastalardan takip süresi uygun olan ve son kontrole gelen 10 hasta çalışma gurubuna alındı Çalışma grubuna alınan hastalarımızda ortalama takip süresi 60.5 (24-132) ay, ortalama yaş 19.6 (13-23) yıl olarak saptandı. Trokanterin distal ve laterale nakli ameliyatının uzun takip sonuçları dikkate alındığında. ağrıyı geçirme ve abduksiyonu artırma yönünden faydalı olduğu, osteoartrozu önleyici etkisinin bulunmadığı sonucuna varıldı.
